Caravan Club Handbook Cover Competition

Our Irish Division Handbook won 2nd place in this competition for 2014 and the Division thus wins the cash prize of £250 from Headquarters.  This will be presented to our Irish Division Chairman at the Club National at the end of May.  We have had 2 commended places in the past but they did not attract any cash prizes.

The cover photograph was submitted to the Irish Division handbook cover competition in October 2013 by Mark Doherty and Valerie Cahill did the final preparation for our handbook publishers (Ulster Tatler Publications).

First prize (£500) was won by the South Essex Centre and Third prize (£125) by Buckinghamshire Centre.  Linconshire Centre also got a mention for their cover.

We can do better all it takes is for you to submit a photo A5 size portrait layout to the Irish Division Secretary by the end of September for judging by the Irish Division Council at their meeting on the first Saturday in October each year.

The 2014 Club National at Arley Hall in Northwich ~ About 100 miles from Holyhead!

The following letter is from Grenville chamberlain, Club Chairman and concerns his selection of a charity for 2014.

Good Afternoon All

I am pleased to confirm that my chosen charity for 2014 will be Cancer Research UK.  Far too many of our friends and colleagues have suffered from this dreadful disease so I hope that we will be able, in some small way, to contribute towards the search for a cure. Cancer Research is I am sure a charity that many of our members will take to their hearts and be willing to dig deep for and it is also a charity which organises a wide range of activities in which members can take part and, hopefully, add to the pot.

Whether they are walkers, runners or cyclists or even not at all sporting there is something to catch the eye close to where they live. Here is the link to “Find an Event”:

For our cycle teams one of their very interesting rides is this one:

It starts from Crystal Palace, a few yards from The Caravan Club site, and could be a useful training stint for the London to Brighton, for those of us taking part, and the tour of Essex.

Anyone care to join me on the Nightrider tour of London sights in the dark?  With fund raising taking place at The National, Tour of Essex Bike Ride (Booking form for associated rally below) and sundry other events during the year, I hope we can make a generous donation to Cancer Research UK.

Best Wishes
